I've always wanted my own Grateful Dead cover band. Assuming "heart of gold band," from the Scarlet Begonias lyrics, is already taken, I'd stick with the same song and call it "Not Like Other Girls."

I saw Maiden last week. This was my 4th time. Still undoubtedly one of the best live acts ever.

Today in random concert updates. Got an e-mail that a Journey tribute band is headed to a bar in Hampton Beach. Not a big surprise except the band's frontman is Joey Belladonna from Anthrax.

He must've read my post about how metal frontmen are the only people with voices strong enough to try and replicate Steve Perry.

Saw Gwar in 2013 and lost my shoe. One of the most memorable concert experiences ever

Borderline cover was great and I never thought I’d hear that song live.

Should also note that Tom Morello was sitting a few rows in front of me. When this dude was walking to his seat literally every hot chick in a three row area (and there were a lot) was trying to get him to take pics with them lirl. Brother I shoulda learned how to play guitar when I was younger.

The only negative of the night was that they only played 14 songs because they had to finish up before the Lakers game ended, but that was still great. Cops down there don't want two events ending at the same time. Also St Vincent is awesome

Lol I was going to post about that tour but I forgot. Jefferson Starship doesn't fit at all and David Freiberg is 84 years old. If they got Mickey Thomas' Starship he has a better chance of living to see the tour.

Anyway I was looking to see when single-day Metallica tickets go on sale (I probably won't go tho) and I saw Morgan Wallen is doing two nights at Metlife? I had no idea he was stadium big. Bad day for consequence culture.

Jefferson Starship only makes sense on that bill for their stuff from 1978 on and yeah, at that point, why not bring in Mickey Thomas’ band? I doubt Jefferson Starship does “We Built This City”, “Sara” and “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” which are the songs that people who want to see the rest of the bands are going to want to hear from them.

Mark McGrath is odd man out IMO but mostly cause I don’t want to accept that the top 40 of my youth is now considered just as moldy oldies as rest of that bill!

And Steve Augeri is just a hilarious inclusion. Did he even record an album with Journey? Not that he will play anything from it if he did.

Augeri did two albums and an EP with Journey but I've never bothered to listen to them. Well, I did start to listen to Arrival (and "Higher Place" is an OK song) but then I gave up once I saw there were 15 tracks.

I looked it up and they do play those three songs. The current JS has the drummer who played on those records - and was fired from Starship for beating the shit out of Mickey Thomas.

Most memorable Augeri era Journey moment was their song on the Armageddon soundtrack.

Genuinely forgot they came out with an album in 2005 but it looks like it was mostly given out for free with concert tickets (a somewhat failed trend that started with Prince’s Musicology the year before) and Augeri only sang half the tracks. If you want a Journey album with Ross Valory singing lead vocals then Generations is for you.

So I'm just gonna assume Michaels' set is 90% Poison tracks just like his buddy Vince Neil doing mostly Crue tracks when he tours solo.

Exactly It’s all Poison and a few covers (including occasionally Sublime as @Laz) can verify. He doesn’t even have a “You’re Invited (But Your Friend Can’t Come)” level solo song. Not that Vince Neil has played that in the past 20 years.

"So, all of a sudden, you've got Jefferson Starship kicking (butt). We went through all their hits today, when I was on the phone with every single member going through what songs they're doing. Then speaking with Jack Blades of Night Ranger, I said, 'Look, just nail them with the hits.' I hit the stage about 9:15-ish and it is a spectacular show. I designed the stage myself and made sure every band has a ton of room. And then we come out and I've got three or four Poison songs, and the next thing you know I'm like, 'Look, I want to sing one of my favorite Journey songs, but rather than me sing it, how about I let Steve (Augeri) sing it?' Boom, we go into 'Don't Stop Believin', and 'Stone in Love.' Then all of a sudden he goes, 'I wanna sing a song I love, I wanna do (Poison's) "Unskinny Bop" and why don't I get the real singer to do it,' and then he throws the mic to me and I'm singing 'Unskinny.' We go back and forth; and then Mark McGrath's on stage doing "Fly." At the end of the night Night Ranger comes back out. Starship comes back out. I just want to make this a good time, and everyone's 1,000 percent in."

Deejays will keep the music pumping between sets, and there will be a "Dress Like Bret Karaoke Contest" in the amphitheater with the winner joining Michaels and others on stage for Poison's "Nuthin' But a Good Time."
This sounds like absolute ass but who knows what draws with white people these days. Maybe it'll work. I hope not!

Like I said me and my white friends are planning on going to the NH show. This is the type of idiotic stuff I live for.

I just love that this is what Brett Michaels is doing after presumably making dumb money on the Stadium Tour last summer.

They toured together about 10 years ago. I wanted to see them then but didn't.

I think this is 3rd or 4th time they have toured. I’m 99% sure they toured in the ‘00s too closer to Rob’s peak in musical relevance.

Not only have they toured together before but I totally forgot until just now that they actually recorded a track together:

This was on the soundtrack to the X-Files series, back when it was common to sell TV soundtracks in stores.
