I don't have that issue.

I saw a rumored price of $39.99 for the expansion. Is that typical? Seems insanely high to me.

It's not typical, but it sounds like it's almost an entirely new game that you can port your character too. Takes place in one of the other continents (not Orlais, forgot which one), raises the level cap complete with new skills, new characters to add to your party. All told, it sounds like it may very well be worth it.

The game does get very difficult in parts. I've knocked the difficulty level down to "casual" a couple times just to beat a couple bosses. At this point in my life I'm not going to devote hours on end to just getting through one video game battle.

Yeah that'll happen in the temple a LOT. Get ready to save after pretty much every fight. I'm dreading the boss fight with the cult leader. Then again, maybe this time I'll take Shale, Morrigan, and Zevran with me and just agree to his deal. I want to unlock the Reaper specialization anyway.

I roll with Alistair, Morrigan, and the dog. I'm a sniping rogue. Made some more progress in the temple today...I'm back in the cave section now.

Whenever I encounter anybody with magical powers I focus on eliminating them first, which means I go and rush them while the rest of the squad fights whomever is around them.

Yeah they made mage fights pretty ridiculous in this. I hate the ambush where you're surrounded by Genlock archers and have a genlock AND Hurlock ambassador spelling you. You try to go after either one and you get frozen by the glyph they somehow managed to set up beforehand. What a pain in the ass. I usually set up my tactics so that my archer is supposed to immediately go after the magic user, but since it's so glitchy I usually just ending up hauling my tank ass after them and hoping I can reach them and stun them before they pick me apart.

I'm in dwarf-ville now. I backed the dead king's advisor, not his son. I won the proving and now I'm going to clean the gang out of the slums.

They fixed my glitch and now I can go back to playing without being annoyed.

The question now is whether or not I want to spend the two weeks before Mass Effect 2 comes out playing this or if I should finish up shorter games and just hold off. ME2 is going to take up all of my time until it's finished upon release.

You should have plenty of time to finish DA before ME2 comes out, unless you are very limited in your playtime. If you're determined to de EVERYTHING in the game it can still be done in like 35-40 hours on the VERY outside. Then again, I don't remember exactly what my playtime was on my completed game, so I may just be blowing smoke.

Really though, I'd get it done before ME2. The endgame is pretty fun if for nothing else than Shale's good-bye speech.

I'm more concerned about being rpg'd out with what would then end up being a full month of doing nothing but Bioware rpgs. I'm sure that once I get going in Dragon Age I won't play anything else until it's done, same with ME2. That's what happened with KOTOR, Jade Empire and ME1. Damn this company makes great fucking games.

Just got there for myself. Remembered this comment... I'm walking around thinking aw this ain't so bad... walk into a room. Two mages pop out of two separate doors and start freezing the shit out of my guys and then a bunch of people swarm in from behind. Ballgame. 30 minutes, at least, of playtime gone. Need to learn to start saving frequently.

That's the same one that got me.

I'm down underground in the Deep Roads going through that chain of traps thing now on the way to the anvil of whatever.

Anybody ring the gong and fight the dragon?

I didn't know you could do that but I'm tempted to go back and give it a whirl. My buddy told me he got it handed to him... I just read it's a secret achievement so I'd like to do it before I finish the game. Currently at level 11 I don't think I stand much of a chance.

Make sure you tank can't be knocked over, and bring along two healers (so Morrigan and Wynne, unless your main character is a mage and can heal). When I played I brought along Leliana as an archer as well. Your ranged characters can pelt the dragon without getting hit by her attacks, while you tank takes the majority of the damage. You just need to make sure he stays up long enough to win.

If you've got the DLC then Shale would be a decent character to have in your party for this battle. In the two play throughs that I killed the dragon I used the following characters myself (Warrior), Morrigan, Leliana, Alistair. This wasn't a great group as in my game Morrigan didn't really have much healing spells and I killed Wynne in the tower so basically it was just my character going at it alone as the others ended up getting killed. Luckily, this was late in the game and I think I was like level 16 or 17 so I managed to beat the dragon.

On my second run through I was a mage and had Shale, Sten, and Wynne in my party and pretty much had no problems as Shale and Sten wore the dragon down from up close while I kept casting spells on it and Wynne handled the healing.

Well, I got absolutely housed, which was not really that different from what I expected. I'm only at Level 11 and I don't even have Wynne or Oghren yet.

I'll be back in a bit to take it out but not just yet.

Futureshop had this on for $49 - down from $69 - so I picked it up after asking a friend about it last night. FUCKING A. What a great game so far. Very WoW-like, but without the MMO aspect. I love that I get a dog. I love that there are BUCKETS of blood and TONS of beheadings during battle, with full on samurai movie blood spray. The cutscenes are a bit stuttery here and in PS3, unfortunately, but it's not detracting from the game for me too much.. just a little annoying at times.

I went with a male Dalish Elf Rogue for my first character. Does the story change significantly with each modification you make to your character when you do the creation? Or is it all roughly the same story with the Grey Warden's choosing you to join, etc?

There are six different origins depending on your choices when creating a character, and all of them end with joining the Grey Wardens.
