Xbox launched 10 years ago today.

I got one early 2002 because my mother had a bunch of Toys R Us gift cards that she never got rid of the Christmas before for some reason...and I wanted to play the Buffy the Vampire Slayer game.

Xbox Live changed everything about the way I do everything with games and I'm addicted to achievements. That's Xbox to me. Xbox Live and achievements.

I won my first xbox off of a contest MTV had. I got a phone call about it months after I entered, I had completely forgotten about the whole thing. It came with 5 games; Halo, Dave Mirra BMX, some NBA game...and I forget the other 2

After spending some time with the new dashboard...I can tell you it's a hell of a lot faster than the old one. My old dashboard would take forever to load stuff whenever I'd get back to it...this one does it instantly.

Got a dashboard update that added the UFC on Xbox live app. It's marked as a pre-release look at it so it's not complete. It tells me that as part of this public preview I can order UFC 139 through the Xbox for FREE. Of course I work on Saturday night. I ordered it for 0 dollars anyway. Just so they think I tried.

It's got easy click and watch video interviews and hype videos to get me excited for a show I can't watch. For Free.

That would be nice. It's slowed down a fair bit over time, but one of the things I very much preferred about the PS3 UI was how snappy it was.

You may also be talking about lists of games and that sort of thing. That's also very slow, and I don't even have that much stuff on my drive. Most of it is Rock Band, too.

So two years ago I bought the Tekken 6 package with the Hori fight stick. Now my stick isn't working. I can press the Xbox button on it to turn the system on but that's it. I've changed the batteries and I've also pressed the sync button on both the system and the stick but it's not working. Any ideas on what else I could try?

If you live near a fighting game tournament, take your stick to it, and find the people who are modding sticks. Pay them to fix it.

Thinking about going and getting a refurbished Kinect from Gamestop in the morning for $70.00 but not sure. I know some stores are selling a new one for $100.00 with games so I can't really decide which to do. Any thoughts?

Just went with the new kinect with 4 games for $100.00. I think it was a better deal.

New dashboard is kinda silly and unnecessary, but fine. Except for the fact that all the apps crash.

Right now, everything is running slower. They apparently added a feature to enable background downloading, but I don't think I want my machine walking and chewing gum at the same time if it's having trouble doing ONE of those things.

Downloaded the YouTube app. Man, compressed web videos do not look very good when blown up to fit a bigger TV.

Did that just come out today? In Canada it's been part of "Coming Soon 3" (Youtube, Dailymotion, and other things I've never heard of). There were two other "Coming Soon" things for Rogers on Demand/Disney XD and another for MLB.TV. UFC was in there somewhere.

I used to watch youtube videos on the Wii, they looked ok but obviously not intended for a big screen, then youtube upgraded to better videos and any attempt to visit there on a Nintendo browser results in an infinte loading time (at best, very slow/poor/choppy playback). I had the same issue on the PS3 browser. Is the 360 one a dedicated app just for watchign videos or does it have a comments section and all that jazz?

The YouTube, iHeartRadio, TMZ (lol), MSNBC and a couple of the TV apps (Verizon FIOS and Rogers cable) came out today.

Oh right, TMZ was one of them in the youtube bundle. I like the guy who wears Zack Ryder shirts. I assume due to licensing issues / CRTC iHeartRadio and MSNBC are not part of the Canadian app package.

The Verizon app is picture perfect.

Although I wonder what it's purpose is since you have to subscribe to the service...that you can then obviously watch anyway.

The Rogers thing is cool as I'm not a Rogers customer, but their website has several videos for non-customers. I assume the app accesses most (if not all) of these.

Well scratch that, Rogers OD may have a website any Canadian can use but the Xbox service requires a subscription.

I've been catching up on Zack Ryder's show (I was 20 episodes behind) on the youtube app and it's awesome watching these on TV.
