I'm throwing the Cubs in there as well unless they surprise me. When they signed Craig Counsell, I had visions of them going after all the big name free agents. But, now that the dust has settled, it seems like they really signed Counsell because he has a history of taking teams with low payroll to winning seasons being in the playoff mix. Just like Jerry and The Bulls, I don't really think The Ricketts care about winning another World Series. They care about the overpriced Disney World type corporate cesspool they turned Wrigleyville into and MAGA candidates they have to donate to in 2024.

And, most of the fanbase eats it up. I'm so annoyed how many Cubs fans I see saying we didn't need Ohtani or Yamamoto because they are too expensive. It's freaking Chicago. They should spend with the big boys New York and LA. I get the reservations with Bellinger more, but I still say give him what he wants. The Cubs need to make a splashy signing. I know the farm system is well regarded and stacked at the moment, but it's always risky to bet on the farm.

With expanded playoffs I don't mind this stuff near as much. The playoffs were already such a crapshoot, but now, the odds of these super teams dominating the World Series for years is very, very low.

I would put the Ricketts in the same category as John Henry. Wealthy franchises that cosplay as big budget franchises and poverty franchises to whatever their whim is that day. At least, redevelopment of Fenway is kind of nice and John Henry isn’t a MAGA Chud. Plus Red Sox have won four World Series in past 20 years. Fans who think we have it as bad as Pirates or As fans have the memory of goldfish.

I don't have a big problem with teams spending big, I just don't like super long contracts. 5 years should be the max. If you want to have a mutual player & team option(s) that both sides have to opt in on after the 5 that's fine.

I'd have liked the Cubs to bring in some big names, but I'm fine with them not blowing a wad of money just on big names for their past production.

Damn, that's a lot of money per year for Giolito. Can only imagine what some of the better pitchers like Snell are gonna get.

Jed Hoyer needs to realize that guys are gonna cost money and make a damn move. The Cubs are the only team to not sign or trade for a major leaguer during Free Agency. They signed another minor league guy today wtf.

This is my fault. If I get a Braves rookie or prospect autograph, they trade him within 2 years. Spencer Strider (thankfully) being an exception. Fair thee well Vaughn Grissom, may you be like William Contreras and not Cristian Pache, Kyle Muller, Braden Shewmake, Tucker Davidson, and/or the rest.

Not sad that Chris Sale's finally gone tbh. Hope he has success but he was basically a league average pitcher for the 2 healthy years after he fell off a cliff post-2018 and injured for the majority of 2 other seasons.

Part of me thinks the injuries will catch up to him though as he'll be 35 in 2024 and already had multiple injuries he battled back from just to start 20 games last year.

It appears Amazon has acquired a minority stake in Diamond Sports aka Ballys and now markets who had that service can watch local games on Amazon.

It appears they will still air games on those local RSN markets so that’s good news for our fathers but good news for cord cutters.

This is the best of the bunch of bad ideas of where the As should play while they are waiting for the Vegas park to be built.

I cannot imagine them playing anywhere within four hours of Oakland being treated with stunning indifference at best and flagrant hostility at worst. Mormons don’t get mad. Unless you’re a black person playing against the Jazz.
