I'm not expecting to have a StreetPass hit anytime soon, but next time I go to BestBuy I'll take mine with me and see if their demo unit is set up for that!

I'm also thinking airports might be a StreetPass hotspot.

I got the Target demo unit once and I was sad.

I've had my 3DS for about a week now so I guess it's time to post a few thoughts. As seen elsewhere on the board I'm a big fan of 3D in general, so it wasn't going to be too hard to make me happy with this system. The glasses free 3D effect obviously isn't as good as you're going to get with a glasses based system, but I've found it to work quite well and provide a really immersive experience. Very, very rarely have I had the effect of something seeming to come out of the screen, but it adds a great level of depth to everything I've played so far. I haven't had too much trouble holding the sweet spot, and I've had any headaches or eye strain either. I was also happy to discover that I can play it without my contacts on and still get the effect.

Most of my playtime so far has been at night while laying in bed, so I haven't been able to play AR games or the face shooter for more than a couple of minutes each, but both are insanely fun and a great way to show off what the system can do to other people. I've also wasted far too much time taking pictures of Mario and Link posing on my desk.

While Ocarina of Time is the biggest thing everyone is waiting for, I also can not wait for the Virtual Console to get added. In the manual for the 3DS where it mentions the Virtual Console it shows pictures of Super Mario Land, which I always liked, and Link's Awakening, which is one of my favorite games of all time. The addition of the DSi store will be nice as well as my understanding is that anything that could be bought on the DSi will work on the 3DS. While the DSi store selection isn't all that great, I do have a half a dozen purchases or so on mine and look forward to being able to transfer them to my 3DS.

And finally the 3DS cartridge games. I still haven't played Ghost Recon yet, and Steel Diver is in the mail ($15 after my $25 credit on amazon for pre-ordering the 3DS), so thus far I've only played SF4, Pilotwings, and RIDDDGGGGEEEEE RAACCCEEERRRR. I've only played a few races of RIDDDDDDGGGEEEE RRRAAACCERRRR but it seems fun and the 3d effect gives the courses a nice sense of depth. Only thing it needs is the actual Kaz Hirai clip so its not just me yelling RIDDDDDGGGEEEE RAAACCCEERRR while I'm playing it.

Street Fighter does a really nice 3D 2D effect, if that makes any sense. There are three distinct layers: the health bars/etc, the fighters, and the background. Sure they all look 2d for the most part, but it really looks as if there is a good distance between each of these layers. The character select screen does this really well as all. I'm thinking that kind of 3d effect is the easiest to do as I've seen it on a lot of PC games and it always looks good.

And lastly the game I've sunk most of my time into: Pilotwings. I didn't expect a game that consists soley of short missions that take 1-3 minutes to complete to be this addicting, but it is. I've found that the longer I play it the stronger the 3D becomes, and this is the only game I've played so far where I've ever had the 'coming out of the screen' effect. Also the music, the damn music. I don't think it's particularly great, but it's catchy, and relaxing.

So yeah loving this system so far and it's only going to get better as features are activated and more games come out. Bravo Nintendo, Bravo.

I got Super Mario Anniversary Collection new. Should I open it and play it or will it be worth money down the line?

I knew the graphics were updated going in, and I figured it wouldn't bother me as much, but it did. If you have original copies on the VC or even your old NES, I wouldn't open that thing. The music CD that comes with it is a joke, too.

When they disappeared after the initial holiday release, I saw them going for like $70. I had an extra copy so I held onto mine, but as soon as they announced the reprint that just came out, the prices dropped. Not sure if they will go back up or not, so I'd say if you want to play it, play it. At this point if the price goes up, it will probably go up whether it is new or used anyway.

Does anybody know where there's a release date list of games for the next six months or so? Also, when the VC/3DS store is coming?

The game just feels so damn soothing to play. I love it.

Soothing is the perfect word to describe it.

I was all ready to come in here and bitch about the 2 minute time limit in free flight mode and how it should be called 'in-store demo mode', but then I discovered you can at least extend it by a few minutes. For every 20 balloons you collect in free flight you get 30 extra seconds, so I'm assuming that continues to all 120 balloons for an extra 3 minutes. There really should be an option to just turn the timer off, but at the moment I'm up to 3:30 minutes and it's MUCH better just having that extra 90 seconds. Especially when using the glider as with the 2 minute limit you barely have time to go anywhere.

I also finally got my first street pass hits, 3 of them in fact this evening. In-line 6 and Miisus had been playing Street Fighter recently and I'm sure were thrilled to learn from me that 'BestBuy is awful', but the interesting one was God, who has been playing Pilotwings DEMO lately. I'm thinking that was an in-store unit, which strikes me as odd it would have a Mii named God, but I'm hoping it was and it was BestBuy.

So I finally 'beat' Pilotwings this morning. After getting 3 stars on all the missions through Platinum you get the ending credits, so I guess that counts as beating it. It unlocked diamond class but I'm not likely to ever 3 star those. I also collected everything I care about in free flight mode, as I got all the balloons finally (5 minutes of free flight time is sooooooooo much better than 2), and all of the location icons to unlock evening and nighttime flight. It's pretty cool doing night flights and having fireworks and such going off.

I've played a little bit of RIDDDGGEEE RACCEERRRR, but I think the next game that's going to get the majority of my time is going to be ghost recon.

My buddy just hacked my wii. I can now play NES/SNES/Genesis and downloaded Wii games. He also gave me a shit ton of games from those consoles.

Does anyone have the Wii Component cables? How big of a difference does it look in 480p opposed to 480i. I just ordered the cable because it was $2.75 on monoprice (not $30 like the official nintendo cable). LOL.

Very little is known about the game at this time, but the upcoming Super Mario game for 3DS may be out this year if series creator Shigeru Miyamoto has his way.
In an interview with French website Gameblog, Miyamoto said he would do everything he can to deliver the new Mario in 2011. That still doesn't tell us anything about the game's contents, but a Mario release this year would be more than welcome by 3DS owners currently starved for content from Nintendo.

The game was revealed during a GDC keynote with Nintendo president Satoru Iwata early last month. The game's logo, as seen above, featured a tail on the 'o' in Mario. Some have taken this to indicate a return of the beloved Tanooki suit from Super Mario Bros. 3.
I'll believe it when I see it, but 3DS Mario dropping that soon would make me very happy.

Also, Ocarina of Time 3D comes out June 19th. Can't wait.

It gives a massive improvement to sharpness, as in expect jaggies galore, especially on a HDtv.

How do you download Wii games? Just burn them to DVD and play on your hacked Wii?

Also, how do you hack a Wii?

You "soft mod" it. Pretty much bypass the starting bios and run other software from the SD card. Then you can pretty much install a loader to load games off an sd card or format a harddrive and run games directly off that.
The only small downside is that gamecube games can't be run that way (through usb/sd) but you cane get a boot program/ run them off dvd-rs.

It was just rumors last week, and as of last week people were thinking that it was coming out this year.

Anyway, now begins the most annoying part of the console cycle, as people will speculate about what the system might have and what they want it to have, then repeat that speculation enough until it becomes rumor, then bitch when the console doesn't have any of that, despite Nintendo never mentioning any of it.

I'll start! It should be free, and play every game ever created, for free of course. And also you should win things by watching playing.

Serious response: It should be backward compatible and be able to run VC games off the SD card... but since they're "system specific" downloads I don't know what sort of technical wizardry they need to pull to do that.

More details of Nintendo's forthcoming console, codenamed Project Cafe aka Wii 2, have been revealed to IGN, including the system's estimated pricing, release, console design, processing architecture, and name.

According to sources with knowledge of the project, Nintendo's next console could have a retail price of anywhere between $350 and $400 based on manufacturing costs, and will ship from Taiwanese manufacturer, Foxconn, this October, putting the earliest possible retail release anywhere between mid-October and early November.

However, Nintendo could also opt to build up a sizable supply of the system and allocate more time for software and games development by launching in early 2012. Similarly, Nintendo could attempt to lower the retail price of the system with lower profit margins to make the price more alluring.

Since the manufacturing is taking place in Taiwan, the earthquakes and tsunami that hit Japan last month will not impact the console hardware as previously expected.

Additionally, IGN has learned that the system will be based on a revamped version of AMD's R700 GPU architecture, not AMD's Fusion technology as previously believed, which will, as previously reported, out perform the PlayStation 3's NVIDIA 7800GTX-based processor. Like the Xbox 360, the system's CPU will be a custom-built triple-core IBM PowerPC chipset, but the clocking speeds will be faster. The system will support 1080p output with the potential for stereoscopic 3D as well, though it has not been determined whether that will be a staple feature.

In terms of the design of the console itself, the overall size will be comparable to that of the original Xbox 360 and the system is likely to resemble a modernized version of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES).

As reported last week, it will indeed utilize controllers with integrated touchscreens and be capable of streaming games to each controller, though given the power of the system, could also feasibly provide a virtualized console for each individual unit.

Finally, Nintendo is considering naming the console Stream, though it is potentially one of several names currently being vetted by the company.

We contacted Nintendo representatives, but they declined to comment on "rumors or speculation."

For more on Project Cafe, stay tuned to IGN.com.

If the VC games that I bought are able to be carried over to the next system, I'll consider getting it. I have more VC games than actual Wii disc games. If Nintendo would have been considerate enough to come out with a Greatest Hits lineup like in the past, I would have bought more Wii games.

Okay, someone help me out here. I considered myself a huge Zelda fan, but i've never heard of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons. What the hell are these?

They were released for Gameboy Color in...2000? I think there were originally supposed to be three of them but they ended up with just the two. I own them both and have yet to actually play them, but I think there's some kind of weird password system where you get a password from one game to unlock something in the other.

The idea is to complete both games in any order. Any items, and a few other things, that you get in one game can be carried to the other game through use of a password system. They were both developed by Capcom and they are quite good.
