I had to do a 3DS update today and hoped it would be about the other 10 Ambassador games, but no such luck.

If you're referring to the system update that came after the big system update, and you wonder what the hell that is, it allows 3DS owners to use WiFi automatically in certain airports or something, that have contracts with some company.

I think one of the sad things about the 3DS is that unless you're into specific things, that's all that's worth owning. I play a lot of Samurai Warriors and I love that, and Street Fighter and DOA are good on it, but those feel dated. Pilotwings was too short.

I agree. I held off for a while and haven't really had a handheld system in a while for similar reasons. That deal, plus some other offers I had at Best Buy made it too good to pass up. I picked up Mario Land 3D, Mario Kart and Zelda with the sale. I never really played the classic Zeldas when I was younger, so I don't even know if I will like Zelda, but figured that would be a title to hold its value. Gotta admit I love my purchase just from Mario (and I think most of this has been a re-hash of my post in another thread).

I've picked up a few games since this week I saw for the price of a rental or less. Figure if I don't like them, I can sell or trade for at least my money back. Those games being Samurai Warriors and a Transformers game I have sitting here now. Ordered online Super MonkeyBall, Pilotwings and Madden because they all had decent sales. Have Pro Evolution Soccer that I found on a clearance rack that I am debating on keeping or returning.

We'll see how it goes. Does anyone have any thoughts on Splinter Cell 3D? Saw that for $10 used, but wasn't sure if it is worth it or not.

Splinter Cell 3D is Chaos Theory. If you already played that, stop right now and don't buy.

It's basically Chaos Theory redone with some of the presentation of Conviction, and dumber AI.

Club Nintendo coins will supposedly soon be usable on select wiiware/dsiware/VC/some combination of them games. I'm sure the selection will suck, but given the current choice of things to buy with the coins I look forward to that. Only things I've bought so far were both added in the last couple of months: the giant AR card, and the Mario t-shirt to give as a Christmas gift.

I've never used any of them. I've thought about getting the Game & Watch DS game, but I keep waiting for them to put something I actually want on there.

I'm getting that button collection thing, though.

Coins expire after a couple of years which is why I went ahead and used some this year. I got the buttons in the mail this week, a lot cooler than the Mario figurine reward from last year.

I got the Game & Watch Collection. Fun for a few minutes but that's it. I don't know why they didn't continue the Game & Watch Gallery series on DS. You figure it would be perfect for the two-screen G&W games, and I'd like to be able to play the Zelda game at some point (I know it's unlockable in the GBA one but that's too much work).

I got some posters, the fans, forget other things. I would love to get shop stuff with coins, though. Pretty much all I would use.

The Circle Pad Pro will retail for $20 (seems high, but not truly truly outrageous) and will be a Gamestop exclusive. Yeah, that'll help get people to buy it! I buy stuff from Gamestop, but I won't be buying the circle pad, as I really don't want to encourage Nintendo to do exclusives with fucking Gamestop. I'll buy a used one online from someone that isn't fucking Gamestop.

I have the Nyko battery pack for 3DS, so I would assume my system won't fit into the Circle Pad cradle. Not that I would buy that ugly piece of shit anyway. It turns my already gaudy-looking 3DS into a lopsided monstrosity. I'll just wait until they make a new system with the second circle pad built in and buy that, and then the price will drop by $60 a month later.

What's the advantage of the second circle pad?

Well, some games, most notably Resident Evil Revelations, will use it like a... second analog stick. For looking around. It's like, imagine a PS Vita versus a PSP.

The 10 GBA games for 3DS ambassadors come out Friday for UK and Japan. This also means we now know the full list of games. We already knew:

Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi carries some fucking babies
Mario Kart GBA: The one that had no tracks in the new one
Metroid Fusion: Where there is a plot
WarioWare Mega Microgames: A lot of games involving just pressing the A button
Mario vs Donkey Kong: Wind up toy puzzle game where you're NOT FUCKING MARIO

New announced games:

Wario Land 4: Where he never dies
Kirby And the Amazing Mirror: Somehow never heard of it
Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones: FUUUUUUCK YEAAAAH
Legend of Zelda the Minish Cap: FUUUUUCK YEAAAAH AGAIN
F-Zero Maximum Velocity: Actually really good

The odds of this coming out in North America on Friday, also, are extremely high.

Holy cow that's a great lineup. I wish it was Metroid Zero Mission instead of Fusion, but I'm not complaining.

Mario Kart GBA: The one that had no tracks in the new one
Not my favorite Mario Kart, but it does have every SNES Mario Kart track in it.

Edit: Also that's not true, there's a Bowser's Castle level from the GBA in Mario Kart 7.

Also, buying downloadable games with Club Nintendo coins went live today. The big winner of this batch is Super Mario Kart for Wii VC for 100 coins. Three others available as well, through January 10th. I guess they're going to change the available games every month.

Can't verify this because I'm at work, but the Ambassador GBA games are reportedly live. The download process is the same: Go to your download history and find the 10 new magical entries. However, the new firmware update allows you to queue downloads, so this should go a bit faster.

Can anyone in the States confirm this? (Europe already has a confirmation)

Downloaded all ten no problem. Added each as Download later, then closed my 3rd for a few minutes and all ten were there when I opened it. Minish Cap time motherfuckers!

Welp, that's that then. Nintendo said we would get them before 2012 and we did. Now that the 3DS is gaining steam, what games are you looking forward to in 2012?

Resident Evil Revelations and Luigi's Mansion 2 for me.

Yeah, both those games were very impressive at E3. I always thought it would take the holidays - a year to really gain steam. Glad it's starting to take off.

I feel like I'm doing everything I did in Donkey Kong 94, which since I just recently replayed it this year, and I'm enjoying it as a decade later sequel.

Resident Evil Revelations, but I'm going to have to wait awhile since I'm either going to wait for a price drop, or buy a used copy. Not paying $50 for it, nor will I buy the circle pad from Gamestop, so I'll have to find a used one of those as well (unless the reviews say the circle pad doesn't help for shit playing the game, then I'll pass on it.) Paper Mario looks great but I don't know if it's confirmed for 2012 or not. Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance was just confirmed for 2012 though, so that's on my list too.

Ms. Smues can't wait for Kid Icarus. I think it looks decent, but I'm not nearly as excited as she is.

Are there any must have Wii games? I bought the girlfriend one for Christmas and so far we have the Mario game that came with it and the first Mario Galaxies.
