To follow up,I successfully modded my Wii. Installing the Homebrew Channel was easy. It took me some time to figure out USB Loader,but after some researching and trial and error,I got that working as well.

I may do this as well. I haven't used my Wii (haw haw) in what seems like eons. I figure I'm going to buy a Wii-U anyway, so what the hell, right? Leaf, is there a specific site you went to for the walkthroughs, etc?

I got home brew through http://hackmii.com/. You find your Wii's MAC address, and then it generates the files and folders and you just put them on an SD card, and go to the Wii's message board/calendar thingy. After HomeBrew is installed, I had to look around to find the files for the Homebrew browser which lets you look for Emulators and Homebrew games. To play Wii games, I ended up using USB Loader. It took me a while to find a way to do it since it needs to apply some IOS updates or something like that. Eventually, I found a YouTube video that had a link to the files and a walkthrough. I was a little hesitant, but it all worked out fine. I downloaded 2 Wii ISO images this morning (Donkey Kong Country and Epic Mickey). Turns out you can't just put them on a USB drive and play them. Nintendo has their won file system which I can't recall the name off. I found an app that lets you format your USB drive to the Wii's format, then the app lets you import ISO images. Worked out fine and I was playing Donkey Kong Country this morning.

All in all, it took a few hours over a couple of nights, but it was well worth it. Wish had had the rest of the links to make it easier for you.

EDIT: Sweet, looks like they might have finally fully translated Captain Rainbow.
EDIT EDIT: ..or maybe not, my bad I do recommend getting Disaster though. That game was surprisingly fun & I'm shocked it didn't get a worldwide release.

I saw on facebook that Super Mario Brothers is in the eShop now. So much for NES VC games being "Ambassador exclusive".

They never said the NES ones would be. It's the GBA ones they claim will never be available to non ambassadors.

I see. I mean, either way, they were free so they could put everything in the eShop and I wouldn't mind, I just remembered the "no plans to release for purchase" line (which as you pointed out, I mis-remembered).

The tradeoff is the games were early and had an incomplete feature set. If you're an Ambassador, go and redownload the game. It now supports multiplayer and save states.

I'm finding myself hating Donkey Kong Country Returns. So many minecart missions. Almost feels like Contra at times where you have to know the stuff is coming at you before hand and memorize it or else you won't stand a chance.

Yeah, it's almost putting me off playing the game. I would have been way happier with Japanese & English subtitles.

I thought they had other games just before that, but it looks like it's been the summer since others were added. I guess they're just waiting for the Wii U & the addition of GC games. I wonder if they'll also make it possible to play the pre GC VC games on the 3DS.

I either missed or forgot about Strider because everytime I check, all I saw was one Wiiware game (or demo in some cases) listed as the update.
