Several Oscar contenders getting re-release or a bump, and "Godzilla: Minus One" (this time in black and white) once again in the top ten. Otherwise not a huge week (no new big releases), though good to see "The Beekeeper" at number 1 (it's a fun movie). Next week is "Argyle", which...is anyone actually excited about this movie?

Anyone But You continues to do well, topping $71 Million domestically while Wonka zooms in towards $200 Million. Wonka, based on 2023's calendar year end numbers, would be sitting around the 9th spot already and 8th after hitting $215.

Mean Girls has a chance to possibly finish 3-4X its budget ($36 Million) domestically alone. It's now at $60 Million.

"Argylle" is now the third Apple movie in a row to bomb. "Killers of the Flower Moon" doesn't count since it's a big awards movie, but this and "Napoleon" have got to hurt. It also ended up costing $200 million, yet every time I saw something from the movie it looked like the most artificial thing imaginable.

Otherwise-good to see "Beekeeper" still making money, "Migration" is still proving to be a hit and I'm amazed "The Boys in the Boat" is still hanging on.

If they did box office numbers by how many times we saw a trailer for the movie, Argyle would be hitting Avatar numbers.

Really hope Boys in The Boat can push one more week and get over 50 million.

Normalize making mid level dramas for old people again.

I really thought Argylle was some sort of prequel to Kingsman (or another story in the same universe) but it's completely unrelated despite having the same director. Color me dense.

The budget for the movie was 80 million, Apple bought it for 200 million. Producers and shit made tons of money but Apple sure won't.

Migration despite similar world-wide totals has outperformed Trolls Band Together thanks to its budget being almost $25 Million less. It's now 3X and still going strong.

Poor Things is closing in on The Favourite sitting at $28 Million vs. the latter's $34 Million. Adjusted for inflation, it was $39.6 Million. It's unlikely Poor Things can hit $40 Million domestically but it could finish close to $33-$35 Million over a few more weekends.

Surprised Lisa Frankenstein opened on so many screens. Looks awful. But I guess they’re light on product right now.

A movie set in the same universe as Jennifer’s Body that is Zelda Williams (Robin’s daughter’s) directorial debut. It seems like something I’d have heard more of in my Facebook feed outside of a post from ‘00s New England indies favorite Dr. Heresy (he really liked it, @Laz ).

Seems like the type of movie that would have warranted a @HarleyQuinn post if not an entire thread.

I saw the teaser and it didn't really grab me (plus it doesn't seem to be getting great reviews, just a decent 6.6 IMDB score that'll likely go down in the future). Also not a real fan of Diablo Cody as a writer so this didn't have much to allure me to be honest.

Well, if Dr. Heresy enjoyed it, then maybe the rest of us will, too.

It actually is. There's a post-credits scene that connects the Kingsmen franchise to some the characters in Argylle, so if there is any intention of another Kingsmen movie (which I think is the plan) there likely will be some additional re-connecting to this film in time.

Or they do an Argylle prequel which seemed to be hinted in the post credits scene, but I highly doubt that will get produced given the low BO numbers.

Just from W-F, Bob Marley doubled Madame Web making $25.341 Million vs. a paltry $12.505 Million. With the weekend, the former is still almost double it domestically. Smart timing on the distribution team as I thought the BM movie wouldn't do that well and I was clearly wrong.

Argylle continues to look like an early bomb of the year contender, sitting at just $76 Million worldwide.

Migration will top $255 Million worldwide over the next few days. Another solid success for Illumination. The Iron Claw has been a moderate success considering its subject matter, now above $35.5 Million domestically.

One to watch for next week on 2/23 is Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba—To the Hashira Training, which I believe will include the first episode of the 4th Season. The last one on 3/3/23 did $17 Million domestically ($10.11 Million opening weekend) opening up against Creed III and battling Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantum Mania and Cocaine Bear.

"Bob Marley: One Love" is the biggest debut of the year thus far, and at this point even "Venom 3" isn't going to save Sony's "we really need to keep the Spider-Man rights because it's all we got at this point" franchise. Also, LOL at "Argylle", plus "Migration", "The Beekeeper" and "Anyone But You" still doing numbers.

Demon Slayer's already made $7.325 Million on Thursday & Friday ($1.8 Thurs, $5.525 on Fri). Gonna be interesting if it can do well enough to beat out Bob Marley for the 1 spot this weekend.

Ouch for "Drive-Away Dolls", while "Demon Slayer" once again proves anime does good box office. Next week should be interesting with "Dune 2" getting released.

Dune: Part Two had $12 Million in previews on Thursday and opened to $32.2 Million on Friday ($20.2 Million on Friday alone). Looks like it may not quite top $100 Million (unless there's a surge today and/or Sunday) but it should challenge $85-$90 Million.

Heard rumblings that Dune: Part 2 may've actually made another cool million to end at $82.5 Million with the final numbers

Dune: Part 2 has officially topped $200 Million worldwide already and $100 Million domestically. I've read its budget was around $200 Million so it'd need to get to around $500 Million to break even, which seems like it has a good chance of doing through its 3rd weekend if not this coming weekend.

Migration is quietly becoming a smash hit nearing 4X its budget and a shade under $280 Million worldwide ($124 Domestic).
