Eh, Letitia Wright is a weirdo too and everyone came out for BP2. Shazam is just lame as shit.

Yeah it's too childish and tbh I think there's too many white people in it. Creed III will draw a larger box office so my confirmation bias is telling me that's why.

Djimon Hounsou can't catch a break.

I'm more surprised the first Shazam did as well as it did than this one failed.

Zach Levi outing himself as a churchy doofus didn't help but Chris Pratt is a religious weirdo too and almost everything he does is a big hit.
Yeah, but Chris Pratt is a churchy doofus who has enough sense to stay of the news. You can arguably say the same thing for Letitia Wright: someone whom she was willing to listen to got a hold of her and was like, "Bitch, they ready to build this whole franchise around you! You gonna fuck up the money if you don't shut up!" And, quiet as kept, don't think that I didn't peep how they shot the end of that movie in such a way that they gave themselves an out for moving forward without Shuri, in case Letitia starts wilding again.

Yeah. Levy was dumb enough to spout off BS publicly and appear on JRE but millions of people listen to Rogan and I assume a solid portion of them see movies (especially capeshit) .

I think the fact that the DCEU is in such a state of flux so we don’t know how much this movie will mean and it doesn’t even look that good to begin with had more to do with the failure than Levi being a doofus.

The PR for DC films have been horrible this last year or so. I'd almost suggest that the fallout of the Black Adam stuff and the reshuffle of things within the DC films dept may have played more a part in the lack of numbers for this one than anything. Plus the trailers didn't do it any favors. It's too bad as I liked the sequel better than the original.

On the flip side, the Flash film looks absolutely spectacular from the trailer I saw before Shazam 2.

Champions feels like a movie that was meant for streaming but thrown into theaters now that companies are putting movies back into theaters.

If it weren't for the fact that they actually used disabled actors (which actually makes me mildly interested to check it out once it DOES hit streaming) and Kaitlin Olsen is in it, Champions seems like something that would have came out in 2003.

Hell of a opening for "John Wick". Also, "Avatar" still raking in cash 15 weeks later, and "Everything, Everywhere All At Once" still making money in the Box Office even though it's been on home release for a while is impressive (yes I'm aware it's in theaters again because of the Oscars)

I saw it. It's completely predictable and by the numbers, but that's not a bad thing. Being a 2000s throwback actually worked for it. I was entertained and it was a very sweet movie. It does have the worst soundtrack I've heard in a while and it shouldn't be two hours.

They use the disabled actors perfectly. Woody is always the butt of the jokes and the disabled actors get the best lines and moments. Kaitlin Olson was also really good as the love interest. It was actually mostly a serious part with her and her brother having most of the heart felt scenes of the movie. She does get one comedic scene with one of my favorite lines of the movie. Woody was Woody. He was pretty enjoyable throughout.

I'd probably go 6.5 or 7/10 and honestly I might of enjoyed it more than Green Book.

John Wick 4 had a $100 Mill budget and has already surpassed it easily from a worldwide standpoint.

Creed III had a $75 Million budget and has already almost made $250 Million worldwide. Huge success story.

Scream 6 had a $35 Million budget so whatever it continues to make is just gravy $$ at this point.

Shazam: Fury of the Gods had a $125 Million budget (+ its heavy advertising costs) so that could be a big box office disappointment at the end of the year. By comparison, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum Mania had a $200 Million budget and has "only" made $464 Million worldwide and that's being considered somewhat of a failure.

For low-key flops, 65 has a $91 Million budget(!) and has struggled to $49 Million worldwide.

The movie is dogshit. They go about 90 seconds before a couple of utterly gigantic plotholes open up.

1. They can space travel but this MF has to take a two year job to pay for someone's healthcare. Bitch what. That's some dystopian ass bullshit but these people seemed pretty happy. It doesn't really compute.

2. This civilization apparently lets their pilots sleep until after they've crashed their spaceship into asteroids. No warning signs beforehand, no waking this guy up to evade the belt, no autopilot to take over, no anything. Everything is fine and perfectly normal in this place.

These ain't even spoilers, because it's 90 seconds in.

It is immensely disappointing they couldn’t even get a fun bad movie out of Adam Driver fighting dinosaurs. And it was by the same screenwriters as A Quiet Place so it’s not like it was made by total hacks.

Glad to see the Dungeons & Dragons movie open well just for the trailer and its use of the voiceover narration guy alone.

Super Mario Bros. opened at an insane $31.70 Million on a Wednesday. By comparison, Air opened to just $3.29 Million.
For Thursday, SMB pulled in $26.566 Million while Air grabbed $2.453 Million (barely edging out John Wick 4's $2.430 Millon.

So in just 2 days SMB pulled in a crazy $58.266 Million before even going into the weekend.

SMB notched $55 Million alone on Friday(!) and is sitting at $113.268 Million on just Wed-Fri. It's already outdone Scream VI and is well on its way to passing John Wick: Chapter 4.

It could have a legitimate shot at surpassing Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum Mania's $212.557 Million this weekend if the Friday numbers are any indication.

I saw a trailer and some ads for The Pope's Exorcist but figured it'd finish #2 given the Christian crowd + Russell Crowe.
