So I had to buy this again today since Futureshop and Canadapost are partners in idiocy. Canadapost detected an incorrect address on their own, not sure how since I never gave them a forwarding address, but either way they won't let me come pick it up.. so it has to go back to Futureshop so I can get a refund. Luckily the FS downtown here had a shit ton of copies so I was able to grab one at lunch.

From all accounts, the game seems to be an upgrade from MW2 from all of the reviews I've read. I was also happy to hear that they got rid of the dual Shotguns in Multiplayer. Still may be a month or so before I pick it up, but I'd be surprised if I didn't have it by New Years.

Some people seem to think the graphics are a slight downgrade, but I am definitely willing to trade it for the much smoother feel during gameplay. Also, the sounds are much more distinct. A grenade that goes off sounds very different from just a random explosion or a barrage of gun-fire. The customization process is cool as well. You unlock weapons, but then you buy the attachments that you want, instead of them being unlocked in a certain order.

I played a little last night, but I am going to be hitting it up in a couple hours and do a marathon run well into the night probably.

I actually like most everything about this game better than MW2, except for the actual maps. Maybe it is because I am re-learning brand new maps, so it is making me feel like an idiot at times, but the Maps seems to be mostly a lot smaller and they have a lot of constantly "around corners" type of layouts, where you are often feeling like you are being chased at all times, and once you manage to kill someone, there is another enemy always around the corner.

I've managed to get a few 5-kill streaks, so it's not like I am doing horrible, but maybe I just need to put some more time in before I feel comfortable.

Unlocked the logo editor the other night. Pretty sweet! I love this kind of customization stuff. The usability of the logo editor is amazing, too. I wish the WWE games would have it like this. Everything is set up in layers and you can adjust the size, angle, colours, positioning, etc. of each layer. And I believe all of the pieces/shapes are vector based as I see no pixellation when you resize them, which is great. You can even put these logos on your main guns too.

I also like that for Domination - the mode I play the most - they don't bother tracking KD ratios for the leaderboard. This is awesome as my KD sucks but my capture rate for bases is always high. I find it takes the fun out of the game to constantly be lamenting a 0.75 KD ratio.

I also got to play an online co-op game of Zombies "Five" map mentioned in the video above. I was JFK and damn that game gets intense as you move deeper into the pentagon. One wall fell apart and about 10 sprinter style zombies came through and devoured Castro and some other guy. There were also these creeper Licker-esque zombies crawling around on the floor. Good times! PS3 peeps we should hook up for some zombie co-op action soon! Mike?

Wow. What a difference a patch makes.

This patch took me from having a relatively bug-free and fun game experience to a totally horrible one. Before the patch, the spawn thing was always an issue, I maybe had lag once or twice and it fixed itself after the host left. I could always get into matches and the parties were decent - they'd still get broken up here and there but nothing near the fucking fiasco I had last night. NOW? Constant lag. Red bars (I NEVER HAVE RED BARS!). Taking forever to get into the fucking match. Party fiasco. I finally just gave up and shut down last night. Fucking bullshit. I don't think I can play this again until they fix what they've broken.

I got 360 and I didn't notice much of anything from the patch, though it seemed to be easier for me to keep parties together. Spawn killing is driving me nanners though, especially in the larger maps. I don't mind it as much in a place like Nuketown.

I'm new to the Call of Duty series, but picked it up when I got my PS3 last night and I'm already loving it. I marked out when I got into the limo in campaign mode and Robert McNamara was there to greet me. I was like "that's fuckin' Robert McNamara!" Meeting JFK was kinda neat too.

There are some levels that I don't see how in the hell anyone gets passed them on the hardest settings. I think I'm on medium difficulty, whatever that one is called and it took me forever to get through some of those levels...gas mask level I'm looking directly at you!

Any tips for multiplayer? I'm not necessarily struggling, but I'm getting shot in the back a ton. It's frustrating to finally bump into someone (or see someone from long range) and the second I start firing my ass gets shot up from the other side. I need to get a headset also since I need to have a way to come back when some of these people talk trash.

Got Black Ops yesterday, and played an hour of so of all the different modes. While it uses the same engine and control scheme, it does feel different than Modern Warfare 2. I also ran into a few instances where I honestly could not tell the difference between and apply and an enemy during the single player campaign. The multiplayer feels a little more balanced than MW2. Also, it's going to take some time getting used to buying guns after I unlock them, rather than just unlock and use them. Ditto for the attachments. I'm not complaining, just going to take some adjusting on how I set up my different classes. Also, the zombies mode can be pretty fun, but I always seems to be done in my teammates who don't want to watch their window/hole.

I really need to get a headset when I play in teams modes or do the zombie mode. I find that it's really hard to coordinate anything if you can't talk to other players. I like playing Domination Mode a lot in multiplayer, but I tend to be teamed with people who want to be all aggressive and charge after other flags, leaving no one to defend the one in our base.

Why is it in Black Ops multiplayer that your gun is only really effective if you have a silencer on it? It makes the gun three times deadly! WTF?
