I'm thinking about Antichamber for $6.79. Hotline Miami is a really good buy at $2.49 too, but I already own that.

Also take notice everyone: the Daily Deal ticker is running on a 24 hour cycle for this sale, not 30(30? I think it was 30) like the last few sales that gave you a window to still buy the previous day's games.

Guess I was wrong about the deals not having an overlap like the last few sales, cause yesterday's deals are still on the main page. Some nice deals today. FEZ for $5, Just Cause 2 for $3, Surgeon Simulator 2013 for $3.39 and Walking Dead complete first season for $6.24 (seriously what is wrong with you if you don't buy it at that price?!)

anyone up for some card trading? I've got a duplicate of Chivalry from the summer sale set, and two McPixel duplicates I'm looking to trade. Anyone want them?

You too, eh? I have 3 of Chivalry: Medieval Warfare now. I could use one of these:

Dead Island
Football Manager
Prison Architect
Skyrim
Torchlight

I guess I've also got double "Bear Trap Mouth" from Brutal Legend.

Pretty fuckin' devious that you only get enough drops for half a set, and you might get dupes.

The cards are selling for less than 20 cents each. I'd just put $5 in your Steam wallet and end up with 4-5 collections rather than trying to find trading partners.

I'd rather not cross that threshold of paying actual money for promotional/concept art wallpaper to earn XP on my video game distribution platform profile. Time, I'll waste. Money? Nah. :) I'd even feel weird selling these things.

I was almost tempted to make a dummy Steam account to earn more cards for voting. But again, I feel like I'd be going down a weird path there.

I've picked up Surgeon Simulator, Final Fantasy VII, and Doom recently. I'd buy more games but I know I won't ever play them (stares at the Oddworld series in my games' list).

I should have never bought Civ V. I not only ruined my life, but my girlfriend's too.

Now I've got an extra Tomb Raider card, and could use these:

Football Manager
Skyrim
Torchlight

I've earned full drops on a few games now. Some of them are games I've already finished; I'm not sure if I'll end up continuing on through Brutal Legend or Bastion without the silly card motivation. Since I'm not going to have this computer for too long, I almost want to make myself eligible for as many booster packs as possible.

It is really really weird that I care about this. x_x

The point is to make Steam extra money on the microtransactions when you get sick of missing a few cards to complete the set and just buy it off the marketplace for like 15-25 cents.

....oh, you mean for the PLAYER? None really. You get a badge, an emoticon for chat and a wallpaper for your profile background. It's just an extra level of achievements.

I bought Saints Row 2 a month ago for 5 TF2 keys (~$10), and since then a friend of mine offered me a free copy & it's gone on sale no less than four times. I'll be sure to post the next time I buy a game so you all know you're just a month away from getting it at ~75% off.

I didn't have Fez and had been pretty close to buying it on a few occasions, so I went for the whole thing. I'm playing FTL at the moment. I'd played it a bit before, and thought it was kinda alright.

Gunpoint is on sale on Steam and the official site (via Humble) for $5. I've sort of been interested in this, but seeing as I'm enjoying GTA V, I don't think I'd play it anytime soon. So I'll probably keep holding off.

Steam Machines also incoming: http://kotaku.com/valve-announces-steam-machines-1386046176

When can I buy one?!

Beginning in 2014, there will be multiple SteamOS machines to choose from, made by different manufacturers.

I’m pretty happy with my PC Gaming setup, do I have to buy a new piece of hardware now?

No. Everything that we’ve been doing on Steam for the last 10 years will continue to move forward.

If you guys are delivering an OS to hardware manufacturers, why is Valve also making its own box?

We're conducting a beta of the overall Steam living-room experience, so we needed to build prototype hardware on which to run tests. At Valve we always rely on real-world testing as part of our design process. The specific machine we're testing is designed for users who want the most control possible over their hardware. Other boxes will optimize for size, price, quietness, or other factors.

How will you choose the 300 beta participants?

A small number of users (30 or less) will be chosen based on their past community contributions and beta participation. The remainder will be chosen at random from the eligible pool.

Should I create lots of Steam accounts to increase my chances of getting selected?

No, that won’t work.

What are the specs of the Valve prototype?

We'll tell you more about it soon. Remember, there will ultimately be several boxes to choose from, with an array of specifications, price, and performance.

Where’s a picture of it? How big is it?

We promise we'll tell you more about it soon.

When will the prototypes ship?

This year.

Will beta testers be allowed to share info about their experience and post pictures and opinions online?

Yes, that really is the whole point. The input from testers should come in many forms: bug reports, forum posts, concept art, 3D prints, haikus, and also very publicly stated opinions.

Will I be able to build my own box to run SteamOS?

Yes.

Can I hack this box? Run another OS? Change the hardware? Install my own software? Use it to build a robot?

Sure.

Can I download the OS to try it out?

You will be able to download it (including the source code, if you're into that) but not yet.

If I’m not in the beta, how can I help and contribute feedback?

The Steam Universe Group is where feedback is being collected. Most areas of the group will remain open for participation by all Steam users. Some may be limited to beta participants only, but there will be plenty of ways to contribute feedback for everyone.

What games will be available during the beta?

The nearly 3,000 games on Steam. Hundreds already running natively on the SteamOS, with more to come. The rest will work seamlessly via in-home streaming.

What is SteamOS? What’s included?

Here's a link to what we said earlier about SteamOS. We'll have more details to tell you, soon. http://store.steampowered.com/livingroom/SteamOS

Am I going to be using a mouse and a keyboard in the living-room?

If you want. But Steam and SteamOS work well with gamepads, too. Stay tuned, though - we have some more to say very soon on the topic of input.

I'm intrigued, but the main selling point of a console is non-gutted sports games the consistency and ease of game purchase, especially for those not in the gaming world; learn a console label & every game with that label will (ideally) work for the person you're buying it for. Unless there's a minimum spec for a SteamBox that's large enough to not be immediately dwarfed by PS4/XB1 I don't see how they'll manage the same consistency level, and even that's going to be $400+ targeted at a market that probably already has their own gaming PC setup and would rather jerry-rig some connectivity to take advantage of the TV/controller mechanisms versus buying essentially another PC just for living room gaming.

I could see interest in the game streaming aspect of things. Though in my case, I'd probably just do that through the Steam client on a laptop rather than buy a new Roku/Apple TV-type of box.

I'm also an odd case in that my "living room" is my computer desk; I currently have my consoles sitting on the desk, and swap cables a bunch.

I'm in the Steam Family Sharing beta now, and reading the guide. It seems like it's very much a shared computer type of situation they've designed this for. (That is what they said it would be. "Players who share computers can also share their Steam games". Anyways.)

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=3784-QLBM-5731

You have to sign in, enable the beta client, and then you can authorize the machine you're using to be shared. I can't, for example, just give people on my friends list access to my library. It's maybe a slightly better solution for people who share passwords, because you only have to do it once. But I don't do that sort of thing.

What I might do is go set things up on my brother's computer at his place, so he can try out some games if he likes. Or maybe make a dummy account and fiddle around with things on my own.
